Learn canoe basics, then paddle the Llangollen Canal across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, the world’s tallest aqueduct. Instructors such as Kieran, Ant, Nick, and Jake keep the pace friendly and safe, with room for scenery, games, or a relaxed family outing. Dogs can join, and children from age six are welcome.

“Was a great experience despite some inclement weather. Was glad we stuck to the two hours though as we were quite tired by the end. I think some of the participants would have appreciated a little more instruction on how to paddle straight as some seemed very new to canoeing. I didn’t appreciate having to lumber my canoe 100 yards down the path and into the water but with only 1 instructor we didn’t have much choice.”

Meet the Newquay Activity Centre near Towan Beach for a two-hour SUP lesson and coastal tour. Your instructor provides the board, paddle, wetsuit, and buoyancy aid, then teaches balance and control before guiding you along sheltered coves, the harbour, and Newquay Bay. James may lead your session, with local wildlife and history adding extra interest.

“James was a great guide with a real interest and knowledge of wildlife and local history. I would say the Paddleboarding isn’t for the faint hearted actually, and if you’re unfit, even tougher. I was surprised how hard going it was on mildly choppy water, having only done it on still lakes and calm tropical sea before! Falling in with a helmet, life vest, wetsuit and trainers on wasn’t pleasant anlthough appreciate H&S takes priority for any of these businesses. Highlight was seeing an adult seal and a youngster which was totally unexpected. Would probably chose kayaking in future due to fitness level!”
